Registration and Change of Details

How do I…Register with the practice?

Registration forms can be completed in person at Brinnington Surgery, the registration form is also available here.

Details of our practice boundary can be found here – prospective patients can check whether they fall into our practice boundary with reception if they prefer.

How do I…Change my address/phone number etc.

Patients can do this by completing a change of address form, by emailing the practice [email protected] or by phoning the practice on 0161 983 3300

Patients who have moved our of our practice boundary will be asked re-register with a local GP.

How do I…Book a routine GP appointment?

Patients can book routine appointments by phoning the practice on 0161 983 3300 or at the main reception desk. 

How do I…Request a home visit?

Patients requiring a home visit should phone the practice before 10am on the day.

Home visits are reserved for patients who are housebound, either permanently or temporarily.

All home visit requests are reviewed by a GP, who may contact you to ask further information before visiting.   

How do I…Book a urgent GP Appointment?

Patients need to ring as close to 8am as possible. Our telephone queuing system ensures that patients are dealt with in the order which they joined the queue.

The queue buster function allows patients to put the phone down but remain in the queue.

How do I…Book a appointment to discuss having a skin lump removed?

Patients can book a routine GP appointment for assessment of any skin lump or lesion.

If minor surgery is required an appointment will be arranged.

Patients should use the self-book link in our text message invitations.

This reserves our telephone lines for patients who need to speak to us.

However, patients can phone 0161 983 3300 or come to reception to book any appointments.  

How do I…Check results of tests I have had done?

We encourage patients to use the NHS App or alternatively ring reception on 0161 983 3300

How do I…Check on the progress of a referral?

Patients are encouraged to use the NHS app.

Alternatively patients should contact the hospital.

How do I…Arrange a blood test?

Patients can phone 0161 983 3300 or come to reception to book any appointments.

Patients need to complete a form, either via a text message from reception or a paper form.

Patients should phone 0161 983 3300 initially.

Contraception and Coil Fitting/Removal

How do I…Book an appointment to discuss new contraception or pill check?

Patients can phone 0161 983 3300 or come to reception to book any appointments

How do I…Arrange an appointment to have a contraceptive implant fitted/removed or replaced?

Patients should phone 0161 983 3300 or come to reception.

The receptionist will book the appropriate appointment.

How do I…Arrange to have a coil fitted or removed?

Patients should phone 0161 983 3300 or come to reception to book a telephone appointment with a practice nurse.

The nurse will then arrange the necessary appointment in a coil clinic.

For coil removals, patients can book an appointment with any practice nurse.


Screening

How do I…Book an appointment for a sexual health screening?

Patients can collect a self-swab from reception for chlamydia and gonorrhoea testing.

For additional sexual health screening patients can self-refer to Locala.

There is also a drop-in clinic in the health centre on the first Monday of each month between 3.30pm and 6.30pm.

The practice encourages patients to use the self-book link in our text message invitations.

This reserves our telephone lines for patients who need to speak to us.

However, patients can phone 0161 983 3300 or come to reception to book any appointments if due.

Patients should contact reception who will ask the midwives to arrange an appointment. 

How do I…Book an appointment to see a dentist?

Please contact your NHS dentist for any dental problems. In hours patient can call 0161 476 9649.

For urgent problems after 6pm please contact 0161 337 2246.

If you do not have an NHS dentist NHS 111 should be able to advise you which local dentists are registering patients.

GPs are not insured to deal with dental issues – please be aware of this as if you have a dental query you will be redirected to dental services.

We have first contact practitioners (FCPs) working in the practice – they can see patients >18 yrs of age with soft tissue injuries, joint and back pain.

Fit Note

How do I…Request a fit note for a new problem?

Self-certificate for 7 days.

Book a GP appointment to deal with the illness, if necessary or after 7 days absence for a fit note

How do I…Request a repeat fit note for an ongoing problem?

Contact reception on 0161 983 3300.
